About Me

Hello!

My name is Michelle Montoya, I will be your child's 2nd-grade teacher this year. This website is to help you know what is going on in the classroom throughout the year. My website will be updated weekly unless there is a change of date on an important event then I will get to it immediately.

So I am from a town of NorthWest Arkansas called Rogers, I was born and raised by two Hispanic parents. My mom is from the Dominican Republic and my dad is from Mexico. I have never been to Mexico so I can't say what it's like but I have been to the Dominican Republic and its both heavenly and since its a third world country, it's also sad how some people live there. The beaches are great and if you want to go on a relaxing vacation that is the spot but living there is not so great.

I also live with two other younger siblings. I have a younger sister whose name is Caroline, and then the baby of the house which is my brother Andrew Montoya. We lived the normal sibling life, always fighting, but we still love each other until the end.

So I entered school not knowing a single word of English but maybe "hi" and "bye". I thank my Kindergarten teacher for giving me the right foundation for learning the language. Without her, I probably would've been held back or been struggling as the years progressed. Skipping to high school, I was very involved, especially my last two years of high school. I get asked if I would redo high school all over again and I say yes without hesitation. The last two years was really where I found myself and got me where I am today.

After high school, I went to a community college called NWACC. I got my Associate's Degree in Arts in Summer of 2016 and was able to cross the stage in May 2017 along with other happy graduates. I transferred to Tech August of 2015 and have loved it ever since. I graduated from Arkansas Tech in May 2018 and got my Bachelor's in Elementary Education.

I am a first year teacher and I am very excited to see what this year has in store for us!
